budgies

just when i think i'm done with the cute little bird phenomenon (which is everywhere, including my kitchen, living room, etc...), i see this.

i love the clothes from this website from japan. i spent most of the nineties in baggy, thrifted levis, so i find myself particularly drawn to these outfits.

i think i'm going to have to start trolling the thrift stores for baggy, worn, jeans again!

(this was basically my uniform for several years!)

these outfits are lovely, too. i love all the neutrals, the layers, the texture...and anything linen.

it's friday afternoon with only an hour left, and i'm so not wanting to be at work. besides the usual friday afternoon malaise, i know that i have two new craft books waiting at home for me!

the first is weekend sewing by heather ross. i was finally suckered into buying this after seeing all the buzz about it on blogland and flickr...that, and i can't resist a good craft/sewing book.

the second is linen, wool, cotton by akiko mano. i love japanese craft books, which is a pricey addiction, but haven't actually made anything, yet (not being able to read japanese is a little intimidating). this lovely is in english, so that should get me over my language hesitation.

i actually decided to get this book as soon as i saw this awesome bag (cuz i need another bag?!)

(i swiped a picture of the bag from this lovely blog, since i'm not able to post one of my own just yet)

a couple weeks back the new york times, in the midst of the grey gardens hoopla, ran some pictures of grey gardens before it was renevated (and after the edies had moved out). i have to say, more often than not, i'm drawn to the before pictures.

(love this one)
